MP&F Strategic Communications has welcomed Tom Cocke, an industry veteran with over 20 years of dedicated and award-winning advertising experience, as the new copy director in its creative services department.
Cocke brings to MP&F an unparalleled amount of creative and copywriting experience, having worked for ad agencies in Atlanta, Charlotte and Nashville on campaigns for some of the largest clients in the country. He most recently held the position of senior vice president, group creative director at The Buntin Group before accepting his new role at MP&F.
“Gaining leaders with the expertise and bona fides of someone like Tom is a rare occurrence,” said Alice Chapman, MP&F managing partner. “His exceptional skillset and personality, partnered with his dedication to the industry, make him a tremendous addition to any team; but we’re especially proud to have him on ours. We cannot wait to harness the creativity he will bring.”
A native of Sewanee, Tenn., Cocke graduated from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Va., before attending The Portfolio Center in Atlanta. He went on to work with dozens of high-level brands and campaigns, including Cracker Barrel, Perkins Restaurants, Chinet, First Horizon Bank, Tennessee Education Lottery, Junior Achievement, The Contributor Street Paper, TriStar Health and Kroger.
His decorated career spans from local recognition to national, including the inaugural “One Nashville Under Gold” campaign for the Nashville S.C. and the Tennessee Education Lottery “Cash Cow” campaign. Along the way, he has picked up numerous awards and recognitions, including The One Show, Communication Arts, Clios, OBIEs, EMMYs, Jay Chiat Awards, ADDYs and three-time winner of Copywriter of the Year, awarded by the American Advertising Awards’ Nashville Chapter.
“Simply put, Tom’s portfolio and work ethic speak for themselves,” Mary Elizabeth Davis, partner at MP&F, said. “To add such a decorated and accomplished person to the fold is a celebratory moment for our firm. At MP&F, we only want the best and brightest from creative and distinct fields, and Tom is yet another example of our growth in this space.”
