Notable journalist and media industry moves:

  • Money: The Wall Street Journal wealth section editor Karen Damatio joins as assistant managing editor and will oversee retirement coverage. Veronica Quezada joins as audience engagement writer. Lauren Wood on boards as an editorial assistant and reporter.
  • USA Today Network: Tampa Bay Times investigative editor Chris Davis joins as VP of investigative reporting and will oversee investigative reporting for USA Today and other Gannett newspapers.
  • Univision Communications: chief news and digital officer Isaac Lee upshifts to chief news, entertainment and digital officer and will oversee Univision’s Fusion Media Group.
  • The New York Times: education reporter Motoko Rich upshifts from education reporter to Tokyo bureau chief.
  • CNN: Mashable senior TV reporter Sandra Gonzalez joins as entertainment reporter in the L.A. bureau.
  • U.S. News & World Report: senior editor Angela Haupt moves up to assistant managing editor, health.
  • The New York Times: associate managing editor Marc Lacey, shifts to national editor. The Times of London football correspondent Rory Smith will join in September as chief soccer correspondent. Sports reporter Andrew Keh will relocate to Berlin this fall to become European sports correspondent and will replace Sam Borden. Borden will take a new role in the U.S.
  • The Boston Globe: David Skork, VP digital, leaves.
  • American City Business Journals: Kent Hoover, Washington bureau chief, retires.
  • Politico: Politico Europe managing editor Carrie Budoff Brown moves up to editor effective after the 2016 election and will replace Susan Glasser, who moves to Jerusalem and will become chief foreign affairs columnist.
  • Los Angeles Times: Austin American-Statesman reporter Jazmine Ulloa joins as state politics reporter in Sacramento.
  • Allure: People senior social media editor Gerilyn Manago joins as the same.
  • Jezebel: staff writer Joanna Rothkopf shifts up to features editor.
  • Gizmodo: freelancer Eve Peyser onboards as night editor and will be responsible for after-hours coverage.
  • HelloGiggles: New York staff departures include; news editor Jessica Wakeman, culture editor Elena Sheppard, assistant editor Rosemary Donahue, and staff writers Kathryn Lindsay and Sammy Nicklass.  Remaining staff are based in Los Angeles.
  • CNBC: ABC News west coast correspondent Aditi Roy joins as general assignment reporter in San Francisco.
  • BET News: MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry onboards as special correspondent.
  • The Tennessean: Los Angeles Daily News investigative reporter Mike Reicher joins as data reporter.
  • The Oklahoman: assistant sports editor Ryan Sharp upshifts to sports editor and replaces Mike Sherman, who joined the Tampa Bay Times as sports editor.
  • Time Inc.: Fortune editor Alan Murray upshifts to content officer and replaces Norm Pearlstine, who will work on international projects. Murray will still oversee Fortune until a new editor is named.
  • Bloomberg Media: Marketplace managing editor Mark Miller joins as editor of Bloomberg Live and will oversee editorial and programming strategy for the Bloomberg Technology Conference, Markets Most Influential Summit, The Year Ahead Summit and other annual conferences.
  • The Washington Post: Charlotte Observer reporter Cleve Wootson onboards as a general assignment reporter covering breaking news and enterprise stories. David Filipov, from The Boston Globe, will join in September as Moscow bureau chief.
  • RealClearPolitics: A.B. Stoddard, from The Hill, joins as associate editor.
  • NBC News: Luke Russert, political correspondent, leaves.
  • Experience Life: executive editor Jamie Martin upshifts to editor-in-chief and replaces editor Pilar Gerasimo.
  • Redbook: Real Simple senior editor Yolanda Wikiel joins as deputy editor and replaces Tiffany Blackstone who becomes features editor.
  • The Atlantic: Buzzfeed national editor Adam Serwer will join as senior editor as of August 15. Foreign Policy associate editor Siddhartha Mahanta joins as the same. Senior editor Sacha Zimmerman moves up to online features editor.
  • The Hill Times: The Morning Consult chief political correspondent Reid Wilson on boards as national correspondent.
  • Milwaukee Business Journal: Olivia Barrow, manufacturing and tourism reporter, departs.
